About this event
Title: "Mythos vs. Logos: Culture as Artifact of the State or Holistic Human Communitas."
Culture is often discussed in relation to military service. While organizational culture models have largely dominated the discussion, recent veteran scholars have called for a more holistic anthropological approach to describing the lifeways of servicemembers, veterans, and their families.
Nathan Hogan is a cultural mythologist and retired U.S. military officer who served 27 years in the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, and as a Department of Defense contractor. He currently serves in Research Development for the University of Arizona’s National Security Program. Nathan works with veterans and those in high-risk professions to build resilience and encourage post-traumatic growth and is the author of Martial Culture in the Lifeways of US Servicemembers and Veterans
